Afghanistan tours. One Kabul operator.
Darya Expeditions has been running Afghanistan tours for many years — through three governments, two evacuations, and the quiet return of foreign travel. We are the ground operator: we book the hotels, hire the drivers, and lead the groups ourselves. No foreign middleman, no wholesale markup.

LOI in 48 hours
Two brothers. One company. Built from nothing.
Hussein and Hassan lost their parents young and grew up in Bamiyan through three decades of conflict. Before founding Darya, Hussein built a private education centre in the Hazarajat that kept teaching girls under Taliban rule — work documented by VICE World News in 2022.
They founded Darya Expeditions — not a charity project, a professional Afghan-owned tour company. The founders still lead every group departure personally.

Is Afghanistan safe to visit in 2026?
The short answer is yes — for travellers using a licensed operator on tested routes. We have run uninterrupted tours since 2021, hosting travellers from the US, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan and fifty other countries, with no serious security incident on any Darya group.
Frequently asked before booking
Can Americans travel to Afghanistan?
Yes. US passport holders can travel to Afghanistan and we have hosted Americans on every group departure since 2022. You apply for the visa at an embassy in Islamabad, Dubai, Tehran, Istanbul or Doha; we issue your Letter of Invitation within 48 hours of booking.
Do I need a visa?
Yes — all nationalities need a tourist visa, applied for online as an e-Visa. You need a Letter of Invitation (valued at $200), which Darya issues free within 48 hours of booking confirmation.
Can women travel alone?
Yes. We host solo female travellers on every departure, and we run a dedicated women-only group tour led by a female Afghan guide.
When is the best time to visit?
March–May and September–November are optimal — mild temperatures, good roads, and the passes to Bamiyan and Band-e Amir fully open. Winter tours still run in Kabul, Herat and Mazar.
How do I book?
Use the booking form. We reply within 12 hours with a fixed quote and available dates. A 30% deposit holds your departure; the balance is paid on arrival in Kabul.
