Flying inside Afghanistan on your tour
We book domestic sectors for our travellers at cost — no markup, and your guide flies with you. Kabul–Herat, Kabul–Mazar and Kabul–Kandahar each turn a punishing road day into a morning, which is why our longer itineraries use them. We do not sell tickets on their own.
Practical notes from our Kabul office
- Book early on thin routes. Herat and Mazar have a handful of seats a day; Kandahar and Urumqi fewer still.
- Check-in is slow. Be at Kabul airport two hours before a domestic departure, three for international — the outer perimeter search adds time.
- Baggage is tight. Domestic allowance is typically 20 kg checked plus one small carry-on; excess is paid in cash at the counter.
- Cash is king. Afghan carriers rarely accept foreign cards at the airport. Bring clean USD or Afghanis.
- Delays are normal. Never book a same-day connection between a domestic flight and an international departure — always overnight in Kabul.
- Permits still apply. Flying does not replace the provincial travel permits we register for every traveller.

Can I buy a domestic ticket from you without a tour? No — we are a tour operator, not a ticket agency. Flights are booked as part of a tour, at cost.
Is Ariana or Kam Air better? Both are used daily by our own staff. Kam Air's fleet is newer on the Dubai run; Ariana has the wider domestic and international network. We book whichever fits your itinerary.
How far ahead should I book? Two to three weeks for domestic in high season (April–June, September–October); a few days is usually fine off-peak.
What if my flight is cancelled mid-tour? Our Kabul office rebooks you and adjusts the ground plan the same day — that is the advantage of travelling with the operator rather than alone.
